Yinson hosts investor event, ‘sYnergy 2023: Inclusive Transition’
Yinson hosted sYnergy 2023, an investor event that saw over 400 people coming together to discuss outlook, strategies, risks, and opportunities amid the transitioning energy landscape.
‘Inclusive Transition’ was the theme that set the stage for both speakers and delegates to engage in a lively discussion revolving around the various approaches towards sustainability and the effects of the energy transition. As a beacon that guides our mindsets and actions, the theme’s core message ultimately calls for a just and inclusive energy transition that can potentially help the world achieve net zero.
The event featured keynote addresses from globally recognised thought leaders, panel sessions comprising local and internal experts, plenaries from Yinson’s senior leadership and an experiential technology showcase. Keynote addresses were delivered by author, thought leader and Silicon Valley entrepreneur Mr Tony Seba as well as clean energy entrepreneur and influencer Mr Assaad Razzouk. Joining our Yinson leadership in two thought-provoking panel sessions were Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) Deputy Secretary General (Industry) Datuk Hanafi Sakri, Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking Asia Pacific Chief Executive Officer Mr Bruno Le Saint, Employees Provident Fund (EPF) Chief Investment Officer Puan Rohaya binti Mohammad Yusof and Cleanhill Partners Founder and Managing Partner Mr Ash Upadhyaya.
The event featured several launches including a memorandum of understanding (“MoU”) exchange between Yinson and Tropical Rainforest Conservation & Research Centre (TRCRC) to develop viable nature-based projects in Malaysia. The event also hosted the official launch of Yinson GreenTech’s (“YGT”) micromobility segment, rydeEV, marked by the unveiling of its first subscription and lease-to-own e-bike with swappable batteries. YGT also signed an MoU with MyEG, Malaysia’s flagship e-government services provider, to collaborate in delivering rydeEV solutions to MyEG.
This was followed by the launch of Yinson’s ‘30 by 30’ – the Group’s flagship sustainability initiative, which sets 30 of the Group’s most material environmental, social and governance (ESG) targets to be achieved by 2030.
Delegates were further invited to experience technologies from across the Group’s business units in indoor and outdoor showcases. One of the highlights was the demonstration of Project Polaris, where delegates were introduced to Yinson Production’s digital performance management platform, designed to empower human capital through data driven decision making for optimising asset efficiency and sustainability. Another highlight was rides on YGT’s e-bikes, electric vehicles, and autonomous vehicles, paired with seamless charging with fast chargers and swappable battery systems controlled through YGT’s proprietary digital app.
In his speech, Yinson Group Chief Executive Officer Lim Chern Yuan emphasised that working towards a net zero future where energy security is a fundamental human right and is both good business and good for the planet. He said, “A sustainable future can only be achieved if it is inclusive, and that means taking care of those who are the most vulnerable and taking care of the environment. Hence, we are thrilled to engage with our stakeholders and collaborate on the vast opportunities presented by the energy transition.
We hope that sYnergy 2023 has sparked conversations, inspired new initiatives, and laid the groundwork for future collaborations that will drive sustainable innovation and creates lasting impact for a better and more sustainable future.”
