Yinson GreenTech provides 143 smart electric vans to Pos Malaysia towards electrifying national postal operations

Yinson GreenTech (“YGT”), a green technology solutions provider, has announced that it will be providing 143 commercial smart electric vans (“e-vans”) to Pos Malaysia Berhad (“Pos Malaysia”) in line with the vision of the national postal provider’s sustainability goals.

Through its electric vehicle (“EV”) leasing business drivEV, YGT will supply CAM EC35 e-vans integrated with smart EV telematics software for Pos Malaysia to deliver the ‘clean and green smile in the last mile’. YGT will also equip Pos Malaysia depots across the country with fleet charging solutions and oversee the technical support and maintenance services for the leased fleet and EV chargers.

This comprehensive, all-in-one EV leasing solution is believed to be the first of its kind offered in the country.

The smart EV telematics software utilises the latest cloud-based technology to provide near real-time data and analytics for fleet management. Features include the remote monitoring and optimising of charging levels, battery utilisation and the driving efficiency of each e-van.

YGT Senior Vice President of Business Development, Mr Srinivas Tati said, “YGT is passionate about helping commercial and industrial customers to achieve their net zero ambitions. In line with this, we are honoured to be working with Pos Malaysia, contributing to their sustainability goal of halving Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030. Starting first with the rollout of chargEV charging stations at Pos Malaysia outlets earlier this year, we are now supporting the rapid electrification of their four-wheeler fleet. We hope that this will pave the way for more corporates to realise their own decarbonisation commitments.”

Pos Malaysia’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr Charles Brewer said, “We are thrilled to be working with YGT to green our fleet operations, reinforcing our dedication to providing the very best service and delivering on our sustainability goals. This initiative is one of six sustainability initiatives and underpins our commitment to be net-zero by 2050 and reflects our purpose statement of being passionate about building trust to connect lives and businesses for a better tomorrow. We aim to fully transition our last-mile vehicles from ICE to electric by 2030.”

He further highlighted Pos Malaysia’s Sustainability Roadmap, launched in early 2023, outlining their ambitious plans to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Charles emphasised, “Our unwavering commitment to reducing emissions, enhancing energy efficiency, and embracing cleaner technologies positions us as the only logistics provider in Malaysia to commit to a net-zero target. We eagerly invite others to join us on this journey towards a cleaner and greener future – together, we can make a difference!”

Further to the provision of the CAM EC35 e-vans, YGT has provided Pos Malaysia with one unit each of MAXUS eDeliver 3 and FOTON iBLUE EV for proof-of-concept (POC) purposes. These e-vans will be evaluated by Pos Malaysia during the 3-month trial period as part of its plan to electrify its last-mile ICE vehicles by 2030.
