YGT volunteers with rewilding initiative in Desaru

The Yinson GreenTech (“YGT”) team recently volunteered for a local rewilding project – ReWild Desaru, in collaboration with Eco MY and JungleWalla. The project, located at Desaru Coast Riverside, Johor, Malaysia, aims to restore local ecosystems and revitalise the natural beauty of the Desaru Coast.

YGT colleagues and senior leaders from across Yinson’s global offices, including Norway, Singapore and Malaysia, participated in the project. Yinsonites were guided by a team of experienced nature guides on tree species that are suitable for the local environment and proper tree planting techniques. Through the initiative, the YGT team planted 58 trees of varying species.

YGT Senior Vice President of Business Development, Mr Srinivas Tati sharing his thoughts on the CSR activity commented, “It was a great opportunity for the YGT team to get ‘hands-on-experience’ in a local ecological sustainability initiative. This was a humbling and inspiring experience, it serves as a vivid reminder of the power of collective action for change. As we work towards building an emission-free future, we should not neglect the valuable and biodiverse resources around us.”

This rewilding project is one of Yinson’s several proactive biodiversity-focused engagements in 2023, to promote environmental conservation and preservation.

EcoMY is a Malaysian NGO dedicated to the conservation of nature heritage sites in Malaysia through community engagements and ecotourism. The Rewilding project is managed and operated by JungleWalla Desaru, an organisation that aims to protect and preserve the natural beauty of Desaru’s ecosystem.
